2 fires hit residential areas in Muntinlupa, Taguig

Two fires affected residential areas in Muntinlupa and Taguig on April 2.

According to Muntinlupa Town Fire Station, two houses were razed by fire at Block 53 in Soldiers Hills Village, Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa at 8:42 p.m.

The first alert was given at 8:42 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 10:36 p.m. No one is injured in the fire which affects a family or four people. Investigators estimated material damage at 1.5 million pesos.

The fire station is investigating the origin and cause of the fire. A total of 31 fire engines and three ambulances responded to the scene.

Meanwhile, a fire struck a residential area at Purok 1 A Pinagkaisa Ext., Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig around 12:16 p.m. on April 2.

According to the fire station of the city of Taguig, the fire started on the second floor of the house of a certain Vilma Manlangit.

The fire leveled two houses and partially burned five others, affecting 15 families or 35 individuals. Investigators estimated the material damage at 80,000 pesos.

A total of 24 fire engines and two ambulances responded to the incident. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 1:38 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Prior to that, a fire razed 50 homes in Barangay Calzada, Taguig around 9.49am, killing three people and injuring one.
