Developers aim to add two residential buildings next to Fenway Church

A development team is proposing a two-building, multi-family project on the same property as a church in the Fenway.

Transom Real Estate and Harbor Run Development on Thursday filed plans with the Boston Planning & Development Agency for the redevelopment of the 61K SF parcel at 165 Park Drive. The lot is adjacent to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on Park Drive.

Plans call for two seven-story buildings totaling 108K SF. The buildings would include 111 apartments, including an undisclosed number with limited rent. The development will also include up to four parking spaces and a ride-sharing service for residents.

In partnership with the developers, the church would continue to operate, according to plans. The developers have agreed to help with repairs and landscaping improvements to the church, which was built in 1960, according to Universal Hub.

The Fenway area has exploded with real estate activity over the past decade, and a host of additional developments are planned. WS Development and Fenway Sports Group are seeking BPDA approval for the Fenway Corners project, a 2.1 million square foot mixed-use development. The development is comprised of eight buildings on 13 parcels surrounding Fenway Park.

Samuels & Associates in December proposed a 553K SF redevelopment of the lot, including the Star Market grocery store on Boylston Street. The developer plans to transform the lot into a mixed-use development consisting of offices, research and development, retail and cultural spaces.
